GEM Car Error Codes For 1998-2015 GEMs
If your GEM is experiencing a problem, your dash display may display a 2 digit error code (-##). If so, you can look up the code below, to look up information related to your GEM's issue. Please use these codes as a starting place to diagnose an issue, and know that Ride-4-Fun is always available, by phone (631-275-6700 or 631-544-9572), to help further diagnose your GEM Cars issue.
02 - GEM Error Code - Cause: car in reverse safety lock out move direction switch to neutral
03 - GEM Error Code - Cause: car in forward safety lock out move direction switch to neutral
04 - GEM Error Code - Cause: park brake on (normal condition) safety lock out release park brake
05 - GEM Error Code - Cause: main relay not closing electrical fault inspect main relay and fuse
06 - GEM Error Code - Cause: accelerator pedal closed safety lock out release pedal before selecting fwd or rev
08 - GEM Error Code - Cause: pedal voltage high electrical fault check pedal voltage: >0.9vdc when open
09 - GEM Error Code - Cause both fwd and rev selected electrical fault inspect direction selector switch
11 - GEM Error Code - Cause: accelerator pedal stuck safety lock out check for debris or floor mat lodged under pedal
14 - GEM Error Code - Cause: rolling radius or gear ratio are out of limits for motor inspect controller programming
15 - GEM Error Code - Cause: voltage low low power charge batteries
16 - GEM Error Code - Cause: voltage high electrical fault verify voltage >86vdc, if higher, run lights to reduce
21 - GEM Error Code - Cause: accelerator fault safety lock out inspect accelerator resistance and wiring
23 - GEM Error Code - Cause: motor current high in rev electrical fault inspect motor controller
24 - GEM Error Code - Cause: motor current high in fwd electrical fault inspect motor controller
27 - GEM Error Code - Cause: 12vdc supply low electrical fault check wiring, see manual
41 - GEM Error Code - Cause: motor controller overheated electrical fault allow to cool, check for brake dragging and overweight
42 - GEM Error Code - Cause: armature voltage high electrical fault inspect motor controller
43 - GEM Error Code - Cause: armature voltage low electrical fault inspect motor controller
44 - GEM Error Code - Cause: armature transistor failure electrical fault inspect motor controller
45 - GEM Error Code - Cause: armature transistor failure electrical fault inspect motor controller
46 - GEM Error Code - Cause: motor shorted to frame electrical fault check motor and wiring, if ok, inspect motor controller 49 - GEM Error Code - Cause: motor current low electrical fault check resistance of motor and wiring, if ok, inspect motor controller
51 - GEM Error Code - Cause: motor controller voltage low electrical fault check voltage, see manual
57 - GEM Error Code - Cause: motor current sensor low electrical fault inspect controller
64 - GEM Error Code - Cause: line driver input voltage low inspect controller
65 - GEM Error Code - Cause: contactor coil current high inspect contactor and controller
66 - GEM Error Code - Cause: field current high inspect motor controller
76 - GEM Error Code - Cause: capacitor voltage high electrical fault inspect mot
